Aurora Borealis, aka the Northern Lights

Happy Happy Friday My Loves,

It's Friday, yay! I had off work today and went out to hang out with my Mom, sister and all the critters. Got to see my horse today and that was really nice. The little solid black wild girl kitty, Firecracker, even sniffed my finger and that is major. She's been in the house almost two years now and we've yet to catch the little wild hussy to get her fixed. It sucks too cuz' she is so pretty and I just want to cuddle her. This is not the first wild black cat my family had in the house. The other one was named Spooky who after she was spayed no one was ever able to touch her again. At least with Firecracker not being spayed is that she is inside and can't get pregnant thank goodness! Hopefully we will get her one day. Bad little cat! I hung out with the other cats too and with Dash, Mom's dog. It was fun!

Today's nails are some ones I've wanted to do for a while now. I am also so very proud of how these came out, they turned out amazing I think :) They are also a place that is on my bucket list to see one day. Hope someday that it does happen!

Without further ado, I present my aurora borealis, aka the northern lights nails. I hope you enjoy these nails as much as I am wearing them currently. I just did them today so I'll keep these until probably next weekend :)

My base is Essie "No More Film". I sponged on OPI "Rich Girls & Po-Boys" and Essie "Salt Water Happy" then I diluted China Glaze "Shore Enuff" with some acetone and brushed that on the nails to stamp. I stamped the trees with Konad black and Lina Winter 02 plate. I put some China Glaze "Fairy Dust" on the tops of the trees in the sky and then on the non-stamped nails to finish. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these :) :) :)

No More Film on it's own. Love dark vampy shades like this one.
Here's a cool pic I pulled off the interwebs of the northern lights for my inspiration, it's so beautiful!
There you have my super proud northern lights nails. Me loves them so much :) :)

Have a great weekend, talk soon. I leave you with Miss Betty and Mr. Kitty. These two are such buddies. I love it and I love them too :)

Is it a Walker.......or is it???

Happy Dead Day!!!!!!

It's here, it's here!! The Walking Dead finally returns tonight for the mid-season premiere! I'm so excited and can't wait. This season has been so good in my opinion, it has a new feel with the new show runner and I am loving this season. The Whisperers are going to be so creepy good too and I can't wait for this story line!!!

My sister will be coming in later tonight to watch it with us and I'll be watching the marathon off and on all day until then. Other than that it's going to be a pretty lazy day for me. It's been a busy weekend, we got our friend Sarah all moved in upstairs and I am so sore from so many trips up these steep stairs she has. It's nice to have her here as our new neighbor :)

Onto the nails. I just did some walker, or are they really, nails for the premiere tonight. I kinda am really digging these. Think they came out cool with these colors together :)

My bases are Sally Hansen X-treme Wear "Mellow Yellow" (yellow), OPI "My Chihuahua Bites" (orange) and Sally Hansen X-treme Wear "Green with Envy" (green). I sponged these on the nails to stamp and stamped using Funky Fingers "Dark Knight" with Creative Shop 09 and Bundle Monster BM-S246 plates. The glitter on my pinkies is China Glaze "Snow Globe".

Green with Envy (green), My Chihuahua Bites (orange) and Mellow Yellow (yellow) on their own.
That's it for today. Have a great day, enjoy the premiere tonight if you are going to watch it. I'll chat at you soon!

I leave you with a super cute pic of Momma Kitty. She went to the Bridge in 2014 and I miss her every single day. She was my baby girl and such a good kitty!

So, what's it going to be Phil???

Happy Groundhog Day Loves,

It's gonna be an early Spring, so Phil says this year, whoot.....whoot..... :)
Today is an unofficial special "holiday" in the eyes of a lot of people.  Today is Groundhog Day, the day where in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania they see if a groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, will see his shadow or not. This year is the 133rd annual Phil weather prediction event. Hard to believe this silly holiday has been going on that long, lol. I watch the celebration on one of our local regional Pennsylvania cable stations. It's good, they have a lot of funny entertainment, I was laughing a lot :) They even shoot off fireworks, it's insane :) Folklore says if he sees his shadow we have six more weeks of Winter and if he doesn't see his shadow then an early Spring is to be expected. It's in my home state of Pennsylvania around three hours away from me to the west. I've never gone, maybe one year I'll brave it and go in person to see the crazy madness surrounding this rodent and his weather prediction :) It's funny though cuz' no matter whether he sees his shadow or not, there's always 6 weeks of Winter left till the first official day of Spring in March.  That aside, I think this is a silly fun tradition and I myself enjoy and love Groundhog Day. It's fun and doing this year's nails for it was also super fun. This is the third year that I've done nails for this day and it really is a fun "holiday" to do nails for :) Hope you like them too!

I did two bases, the darker green is China Glaze "Four Leaf Clover" and the lighter green is Essie "Navigate Her". I drew the groundhog using nail art brushes and a dotting tool with China Glaze "Give Me S'more", Maybelline Color Show "Better In Buff", Sinful Colors "Black on Black" and white and black stripers. The glitter is Sinful Colors "Kanfetti". I put a coat of China Glaze "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Starfish" on the rest to finish.

This first picture is with my Phil mug. This mug was my Dad's and I inherited it when he passed on so it means a lot to me. I do have another mug, but that one lives at work. That's our new cat, Charlie, there in the back inspecting. We took in Charlie when our upstairs neighbors moved out and could not take him with them.

Navigate Her and Four Leaf Clover by themselves. Love these two greens paired together.
Here's some fun facts I copied from the official website for Groundhog Day :)

Some answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the holiday:
  • Yes! Punxsutawney Phil is the only true weather forecasting groundhog. The others are just impostors.
  • How often is Phil's prediction correct? 100% of the time, of course!
  • How many "Phils" have there been over the years? There has only been one Punxsutawney Phil. He has been making predictions for over 131 years!
  • Punxsutawney Phil gets his longevity from drinking the "elixir of life," a secret recipe. Phil takes one sip every summer at the Groundhog Picnic and it magically gives him seven more years of life.
  • On February 2, Phil comes out of his burrow on Gobbler's Knob - in front of thousands of followers from all over the world - to predict the weather for the rest of winter.
  • According to legend, if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter weather. If he does not see his shadow, there will be an early spring.
  • No! Phil's forecasts are not made in advance by the Inner Circle. After Phil emerges from his burrow on February 2, he speaks to the Groundhog Club president in "Groundhogese"(a language only understood by the current president of the Inner Circle). His proclamation is then translated for the world.
  • The celebration of Groundhog Day began with Pennsylvania's earliest settlers. They brought with them the legend of Candlemas Day, which states, "For as the sun shines on Candlemas Day, so far will the snow swirl in May..."
  • Punxsutawney held its first Groundhog Day in the 1800s. The first official trek to Gobbler's Knob was made on February 2, 1887.
  • So the story goes, Punxsutawney Phil was named after King Phillip. Prior to being called Phil, he was called Br'er Groundhog.
Here's some more pics I pulled off the interwebs of the old farts that handle Phil and Phil :)

Have a great weekend. Later today our really good friend, Sarah, is moving upstairs so Casey and I will be busy helping her unload her stuff when she gets here with other friends that are helping her to load her stuff up and bring it here. I am so excited to have her becoming our neighbor. She's awesome and I love Sarah so much, yay.
Talk to you soon!
