Happy 9 Year Blogiversary/B-day Melly's Musings!!

Hello my loves,

Today marks nine years officially since I began this blog and posting my nails regularly on the interwebs! Crazy to think I've been doing this for that long. Where does the time go!!!! I post my nails here along with Facebook (I'm old, so, yes, I still use FB) and Instagram. I will continue posting to those along with this blog as I like to have my pics in one easily searchable place. So, here's to another 9 years of my nails and posting them. I went back to my first post and the very first time I ever stamped and reverse stamped my nails and wow, how far I have come in my stamping skills!

Over the years I have done some pretty good, in my opinion, at least free hand nail art. Once I started to get really into stamping and good at it my free hand went by the way side and now I only stamp since it looks way better and I am truly a stamping addict now days, lol. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE stamping my nails! It's fun!

After these nails for fun I have some of my old manis to show how much my nail skills have improved. It was fun going back and looking at these :)

So for my blogiversary nails I did these too cute spooky cupcakes. I'm in love 🧑

My bases are Great Lakes Lacquer Strength Untold (pink shimmer) and Bluebird Lacquer Here For the Boos (magnetic). I stamped using Hit the Bottle Dreadful Delights and Apipla Confectionery plates with different stamping polishes.

Here's some old pics for fun :)

This was my picture from my very first post on 9/28/2014. I did a lot of dotticures back then, they are easy and are hard to mess up. They were good for my first adventures into the world of nail art.
Here is one of my favorite free hands I did way back on 10/5/2017 of some too cute foxes when I was still doing everything free hand on my nails.

These are from the first time I stamped 10/18/2015! I was pretty terrible back then, ha ha. But, we all have to start somewhere.
My first go at reverse stamping from 8/2/2020. Again, pretty terrible, but practice does make perfect.
Here are some reverse stamped nails from 11/15/2022. I've gotten so good at stamping since I first began if I do say so myself :) I loved these Fall nails last year!
There you have my spooky blogiversary/b-day nails plus a bit of trip down memory lane with my nails.

Talk soon, have a great day and here's to another 9 years of Smelly Melly nails!

Melly's Musings Is 7!!!

Happy Wednesday Loves,

Yesterday this blog turned seven!!! Hard to believe I've been doing this for seven years now. I will continue to post my nails on this blog as I like to have all my nails in one place and not all over on Facebook or Instagram. I also still have views daily so I have no reason to stop posting here. Even if I had no views I'd still post to, again, have all my manis in one place.

I chose to do nail polish themed nails this year because that is the subject of this blog and because Nail Polish Is Life and I Love Nail Polish πŸ’… ❤

My base is Wildflower Lacquer Scarlet. I put one coat of Polish Me Silly Glow Girl on top of my index, middle and ring nails. I stamped using Uber Chic Nail Polish Is Life plate with all Maniology and Clear Jelly Stamper stamping polishes.

That's all for today. Thanks to all who read and visit this blog. Have a great Hump Day and Happy Blog b-day Melly's Musings πŸŽ‚πŸ°πŸ§πŸΎπŸ·πŸΈπŸΉπŸΊπŸ»πŸ₯‚πŸ₯ƒ

Talk to you next week when we get from camping this weekend.

Happy 6th Birthday Melly's Musings :)

Happy Monday My Loves,

Today my blog is SIX years old, wow! I've been doing this for quite a bit now. I am not going to stop posting anytime soon. I know that blogs are not the most popular things in the world any longer with other forms of social media for posting but I will continue my blog as I like to have all my nails and art in one spot and easy to find if I want to go back to look at past manis I've done. For me it's also a nice place to share some of my life. So, Melly's Musings is not going anywhere and if you do read my blog or just look at my nail pictures thank you so much for taking the time to check out my little tiny corner of the interwebs. It means a lot to me my dear readers :)

I also really enjoy seeing all the different views in countries the world over. I like to think that I am inspiring people all over with some nail ideas. So, to celebrate today I have some reverse stamped nails. I think these turned out super cute and I am so into reverse stamping lately now that I can do it pretty well :) Hope you enjoy these nails also.

My base is Essie "Throw In the Towel". I then sponged Essie "Feeling Wellies" and Essie "Can Dew Attitude" on the nails to stamp. I stamped the outlines with Colour Alike "Shadow Grey" using B Loves Polish B.00 Rainbows and Unicorns plate and Maniology M116 plate. I then reversed stamped using all sorts of polishes to color the balloon and cupcake images, then transferred them to my nails. I put one coat of China Glaze "Fairy Dust" on top of the stamped nails and on my pinkies and thumbs is a coat of Cupcake Polish "Let's Get Crazy". I did mess up the image on my left hand for the Happy Birthday but didn't realize until after I was done that the whole image did not pick up, oh well! But I do love the way the balloons and cupcakes came out.

Throw In the Towel on it's own, love this shade, so pretty I think

That's it for today, Have a great week and I'll talk to you all soon. I leave you with me as the Covid cat that shredded the last roll of toilet paper that I wore to a horse show I went to yesterday to help out at. It was the last show of the year and the theme was 2020 for the costume class that they had for the horses and their riders. There were so many good costumes people came up with. I will post more pics from the horse show in my next blog post. Today was a long day at work and I am still tired from being at the show all day yesterday so next post it is :) I think this was such a cute fun costume that I came up with for the theme :)

Happy Birthday Blog (a day late) :)

Happy Sunday My Loves,

Today's post is a post celebrating my blog's 5th birthday or blog-a-b-day/blogiversary. It was actually yesterday but I didn't have a chance to do my nails or a post yesterday so today it is a day late. Hard to believe that five years has gone by now since I started my little piece of the interwebs to showcase my nails and talk about stuff in my life and what I do :) Thank you to all my readers these many years. Here's to many more years of this little blog o' mine :)

I chose to do my two favorite colors together today, purple and pink, and kept it super simple with some easy peasy fan brushed nails. I think these are really pretty. Hope you like them too.

My base is Essie "Play Date". I fan brushed on Color Club "Hot-Hot-Hot Pants". The glitter is Alchemy Lacquers "KCl" and on my all the other nails I put a coat of Color Club "Bright Lights Big City".

Play Date on it's own. This is one of my favorite polishes I own, love this purple.
That's all for today. Yesterday we were at friends' house with friends having a rock painting party and it was fun fun. Last night my sister came to hang out. Today I am doing some stuff around home and pretty much chilling. We do leave to go to the mountains the end of this week for the weekend then next Sunday when we get home it's The Walking Dead Season 10 premiere and I can't wait. So ready for my beloved Walking Dead to be back on. Not sure what I'm doing with my nails just yet. I'll have a post then of my nails.

Have a great rest of weekend and good week. Talk soon. I leave you with my baby baby girl, Miss Betty, my heart, my love kitty :)

Melly's Musing's is FOUR Today :)

Happy Friday my loves,

Hello my friends, I hope today finds you well and that you have had a good week. Mine has been alright, uneventful and I'm so okay with that :) Glad it's Friday and the weekend is almost here!

Today is a special day for me and my blog.  My blog, this blog, Melly's Musings is four years old today.  It's a bit hard to believe that I've been doing this little blog for four years now. I love my blog and having my blog.  It's such a fun way for me to showcase my nails that I spend so much time doing and that bring me so much joy. One of the things I love seeing is all the different countries that view my blog when I check my blog's stats. I like to think that I am inspiring people the entire world over thru my little happy nail corner of the interwebs.

I want to thank everyone that reads my blog or even just looks at the pictures and supports me and my nail habit. I have no plans to stop posting on this blog anytime soon.  So, here's to another year of nails and fun nail art :)

For my blog b-day nails I have some cupcakes. and birthday candles. I decided to do my bases in my two favorite colors, purple and pink. I think these came out cute even tho' I smudged the "4" on my left thumb and kinda made the cupcake paper too big on that ring nail so I had to do that one on my whole nail instead of a little cupcake on the nail like on my right hand.  Oh well, shit happens :)

The purple base is China Glaze "Spontaneous" and the pink is Essie "Splash of Gernadine". I then used a slew of polishes with nail art brushes to draw the cupcakes, and candles and fours, then a coat of China Glaze "Fairy Dust" on top of them all. The glitter on my pinkies is Sally Hansen Luxe Lace "Eyelet" and the glitter on my pointers is China Glaze "The Outer Edge".

Spontaneous and Splash of Grenadine by themselves.
There you have my blog-a-b-day/blogiversary nails for this year, the year of 4 for Melly's Musings. Have a great rest of the day.  I'll talk to you next time with some more Fall nails. I've also been thinking of what I'm doing for my Walking Dead season premiere nails next weekend and I have to start thinking of some Halloween nails that I need to start doing soon too :)

I leave you with all the black cats outside in the yard one day, Betty, Dino and Pebbles. Talk soon :)

It's My Blog's Blog-a-b-day/Blogiversary & Dotticures Are Fun!!!

Happy Thursday My Loves,

Hello and how are you!!! Wonderful, I hope and hope your week is going well also.  Mine is okay, glad tomorrow is Friday! So, today my blog turns turns 3.  It was three years ago today that I started this blog. It seems hard to believe that it's been three years already, where does the time go!!! I truly enjoy showcasing my nails on this blog and plan to for as long as I am able to.  It's a great outlet for me and a wonderful way to keep all my manicures and nail art in one place.  It's fun having this blog.  One thing I love to do is check out my stats to see what all different countries have viewed my blog.  There have been many views from many, many different countries. I really like to think that I am inspiring people the entire world over thru my nails, I sure hope so.  I want to say a big huge thank you and lots of love to all my readers out there from all over the world, thank you, thank you, thank you, it means a lot to me to know that I have readers of this blog in my super teeny tiny itsy bitsy part of the interwebs.

I didn't do anything special for my blog-a-b-day this year.  To be honest, I forgot what date it was till it hit me today when I was on Facebook checking my "On This Day" memories and last year's blog post came up.  And, guess what??? Last year I posted a dotticure for my blog's special day also!  And, now this year, you get another dotticure to celebrate.  I love dotticures, they are super easy to do and are one of my favorite nail art techniques to do.  Without further ado, I present to you this year's blogiversary nails :)  Hope you like this super simple dotticure I did one day last week!

My base was Essie "Saved By the Belle".  I used a slew of "I was too lazy to write down" polishes and a couple different sized dotting tools to create the dotticure, then a coat of China Glaze "Fairy Dust" on top of those. The glitter on the non-dotted nails is Essie "Jazzy Jubilant". I really enjoyed this mani, it was pretty I thought :)

Saved By the Belle on it's own.  I just got this in the Essie Fall collection out now.  It's a nice pink, like I really needed another pink in this shade range, (I don't) but I just couldn't not bring it home with me when I saw it.  If I remember the formula was pretty decent on it.  So, if you are on the search for a nice bubble gum girly pink, you should pick this one up.
There you have my Happy Birthday blog nails.  Have a great rest of the night and I'll chat at you soon.  I leave you with Dino, being cute one day :)  He's a really good cat, he's also king of the cat household :)

Blog-a-B-Day/Blogiversary Dots, Dots, Dots!!!

Happy Wednesday friends,

Hope you are well and your week is going good.  Today's date marks the second birthday or blog-a-b-day and the anniversary or blogiversary for my blog.  Two years ago today I finally did it and began my journey into my little nail polish corner of the interwebs with this blog. I'm so glad I did it and have stuck with it and will continue to stick with it.  It's been nice to have a place to journal my nails, talk about nails and I hope inspire others through my nails and nail polish.  I also enjoy talking about and showing pics of the kitties and sharing other bits and pieces of my life here too. It's a great outlet for me and I do really enjoy having this blog.  One of the things that I love to regularly check are my blog's stats.  I love seeing all the different countries that people have viewed my blog and posts in.  It makes me feel really good to know that I have people checking out my blog all the world over, it's fun. I truly do appreciate every single reader I have whether a regular reader or the occasional visitor to this blog.  I don't feel like I am writing to just me and that's a good things, lol :)  So, thank you to everyone that reads this blog and has stuck by me the last two years!!! Here's to many more fun nail adventures to me and to Melly's Musings in the years to come, yay!!!

So, I originally was going to do some cupcake and b-day type nails, but, didn't have a chance to.  Casey and I went to the bus camping in the mountains this past weekend and then the last two nights I've been getting stuff together for our regional Burning Man event next week, so, nails have taken the back burner till tomorrow night.  So, my blog day nails are some dots I did a couple of weeks ago and since dotticures are some of my very favorite nails to do I think these nails are good for my milestone blog day today.  Hope you like them.  I love the way this mani turned out, so pretty and cool looking I think :)

I started with a base of OPI "Pamplona Purple", then dotted using Essie "Groove Is In the Heart", Essie "Make Some Noise" and Essie "Vibrant Vibes", then did a coat of China Glaze "Fairy Dust" on top of the dots. The glitter accent is LA Girl "Extra! Extra!" and then did a coat of China Glaze "Don't Mesh With Me" on my thumb and pinky nails.  I love "Don't Mesh With Me" on top of "Pamplona Purple".  It was so pretty and so sparkly :)

Pamplona Purple on it's own.  I love this polish and have had it for many years now.
That's it for tonight, it's getting late and I am getting tired.  Have a great rest of the night and thank you again to all that come and check out my blog, it means a lot to me :)

Today's feel good is: "Be curious, you'll have the best adventures."

I leave you with Miss Betty and Dino.  I love this pic so much of them together, it's so cute :)

Talk soon loves!

It's My Blog's Blog-A-B-Day, Yay!

Happy Monday Loves,

It's Monday, ugh, and it's overcast and rainy here today.  I hate dreary Mondays, it just makes Mondays that much harder, LOL!   Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I did, it went too fast of course, but, it was a good weekend and next week is a short week for me since I leave for my vacation next Thursday, yay! I can't wait!

Today is my blog's one year birthday or it's one year blogiversary as they are known in the blogging world.  Last September 28, 2014 I finally started my blog about mostly nails and nail polish with a little bit more thrown in here and there about me and my life.  I was still with my husband last year at this time and he had been encouraging me to start a blog to journal my nail adventures and to give nail care tips and tricks, so, finally one day I said to myself, "I should start a blog, this could be fun and I will have a diary of all my nails in the process.", so, that day I started my blog and did my first hello post. It's been a fun year for me with this blog. I have had lots of fun doing my nails, taking pictures and posting them on my blog.  I know I will continue to have fun with my blog going forward.  I have had several people tell me how much they love my blog, how much they have learned about nails and nail care and how they've been inspired by my nails and my blog to do their own nails and nail art.  That makes me feel so warm and fuzzy and good inside to hear people say that to me.  I will continue doing this blog and have some other ideas for future posts on this blog.  I am planning more nail and cuticle care posts, some bath and body product posts, more nail art and and a few other fun posts relating to nails.  I am beginning to collect some nail polish and nail care products for a blog giveaway I want to do too later this year as a thanks to my readers and fans. I look forward to the next year going forward and can't wait to see what new ideas and fun stuff happens on this blog.

So, since this is my blog's birthday, I decided to do some cupcakes on my nails to celebrate. I used a base of China Glaze "Lotus Begin", the rest of the polishes I used I didn't write down.  This was also the first time I did cupcake nails. I like them!  Here you go.

Lotus Begin on it's own.  I love, love, love this purple, what a surprise, it's purple and I love it :)
My best friend, Valerie, had her daughter, Chloe, also my god daughter, over at my apartment this weekend too and she did a dotticure on her nails.  They looked great and I love the colors she chose.  Here Coco and I are showing off our nails in front of some of my polish :)

Chloe's nails and my nails
Here's Dino snuggling and getting love from Mommy.  I love these pics of him and me.  He's such a good cat.

Trying to pose my nails with Dino here, didn't work so well, LOL, but, look how handsome he is :)

Here's Casey and me on Saturday night before we went out to get a drink.  I heart this guy hard you guys :)  He makes me really happy and we have such a great time together and he's just a straight up good guy that treats me the way I deserve to be treated :)

That's it for today.  Talk to you all soon and Happy Blog-A-B-Day Melly's Musings!!!  :)

Polish & Purrs,

Melly
